We’re very proud here at GATE Herts to have been accredited with a Quality Mark by the Charity Excellence Framework, recognising our staff and volunteers for their hard work and providing evidence to funders and stakeholders of our commitment to excellence.
The assessment covered all areas of the organisation’s activity including:
”Promoting good governance, effective strategy, leading and managing people well, effective delivery of operations, efficient use of finance and resources, maximising income generation and effective communications”.Charity Excellence website
It included a free online Charity Excellence Framework management database.
The health check enables us to become a more effective charity, by automatically analysing our results and assessing the extent to which we are maximising our impact.
GATE Herts Quality Mark: The process of achieving accreditation
It was very easy to use from the interactive dashboard and we were assessed using a framework created to meet our specific needs. It allowed us to review our operations and locate and identify gaps, which will help us to be the best we can be for those that we support.
There were 8 questionnaires with up to 40 questions in each, which enabled us to evaluate our efficiency and effectiveness in half a day. It will support us to improve performance in every area.
Achieving the Charity Excellence Quality Mark gave us access to thousands of practical ideas, guidance, policies, templates and toolkits, including it’s COVID-19 response toolkits.
It also assessed our impact, sustainability, legal compliance and how good we are at getting funding to our front line activities.
We hope that this Quality Mark will help GATE Herts to connect with more organisations, to secure more funding, and ultimately to support and empower more people in our Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) communities with their education, accommodation, health and employment, in addition to continuing with our work on hate crime and our Report Racism GRT project.
